ANIMAL ENTERTAINMENT POLICY

Our site wide and corporate policy

GEOguides is committed to promoting the conservation and preservation of our planet and its people. We believe animals have a right to live a free and full life, and that humans have a responsibility to maintain a respectful balance with nature. We encourage travelers to enjoy wildlife in its natural state by visiting native habitats, wildlife and open space preserves, national and local parks, wildlife refuges, animal rehabilitation facilities, not for profit wildlife centers, aquariums, museums and educational centers. We also support sustainable subsistence fishing and hunting, environmentally responsible farms, as well as tour operators and experts that will guide visitors safely and respectfully while exploring our planet responsibly.

Although we understand there are establishments that encourage education and environmental conservation through animal captivity, we can not confidently say that all establishments operate with the same standards. For this reason GEOguides prohibits the use of our platform to promote any business, tour, trip or attraction, that supports the use of animals for human entertainment or transportation including the hunting or fishing of animals for trophy purposes. This includes all animals that are captured, caged, chained, trained, manipulated, traded or sold, including circuses, zoos, animal parks, animal rides, animal transportation, for-profit aquariums and animal facilities or any other establishment that confines animals other than for the purposes of conservation research and education or rescue, rehabilitation and release back into the wild or as a sanctuary whose entrance fees or donations are solely used to help fund the protection and preservation of those animals and their natural habitat.

FAQ's

We encourage respectful and safe animal encounters that do not go against our Animal Entertainment Policy.

Some examples include visiting with wolves at a non profit sanctuary, walking with free ranging goats from a family owned farm, scuba diving with marine animals that are not restricted in any way.

Subsistence fishing and hunting refers to fishing and hunting, other than for sport, that is carried out primarily for personal consumption or to feed the family and relatives of the person doing the fishing or hunting. We encourage this type of self sufficient hunting and fishing as it tends to create less waste than commercial means, with little to no impact on the environment if done responsibly. Subsistence fishing and hunting that follows local and international fish and game laws can be one of the most sustainable ways to source food.

Any photos uploaded to our platform and made public that are found to go against our Animal Entertainment Policy will be removed.

To spot a threatened or endangered species in the wild is a rare opportunity and to capture a photo even more so! As magical as that moment must have been, we request that you do not geotag or publish the exact location of your encounter in order to help ensure that species continued survival.
